GiveNOLA Day: Help Bridge House / Grace House Reach It’s Goals!

GiveNOLA Day

GiveNOLA Day 2015 Banner

Visit on May 5th and make a donation of $10 or more to Bridge House / Grace House.  A percentage of your donation will be matched by the Greater New Orleans Foundation! Your donation can help save the life of someone in need.

What is a Giving Day?

GiveNOLA Day is a 24-hour, online giving event organized by the Greater New Orleans Foundation to ignite the giving community in Southeast Louisiana. The goal is to inspire the community to come together for 24 hours to contribute as many charitable dollars as possible to support the work of local nonprofit organizations. GiveNOLA Day is based on other successful giving days hosted by community foundations across the country.

When will GiveNOLA Day take place?

It will be from 12:00:01 AM to 11:59:59 PM on May 5, 2015. All event-related donations must be made online during the 24-hour period.

Why give on May 5 through

While we encourage you to support your local nonprofits with year-round giving, we are creating a special event on May 5th – a charitable holiday. It’s our day to celebrate the New Orleans region’s spirit of generosity and support the work of our nonprofits. Plus, your dollars during the 24-hour period will be amplified by proportional “lagniappe funds” and prize dollars.

What is the matching or “lagniappe” fund?

Our goal for our first year is to raise over $200,000 in local, proportional “lagniappe” dollars. At the end of the event, every agency will receive a proportional share of this fund based upon its percentage of the total dollars raised. For example, if an agency receives 5% of the total donations raised during GiveNOLA Day, the agency will receive an additional $10,000.

Is this tied to a national event?

Yes. Hundreds of communities across America are asking people to give to their nonprofits through events run by their local community foundations, all of which will occur on May 5, 2015. The campaign, called Give Local America, is sponsored by the Council on Foundations and technology partner Kimbia.
