March for Recovery 2018
In recognition of National Recovery Month, Bridge House / Grace House honored the achievements of those overcoming addiction through the 2nd Annual March for Recovery Presented by Oscar J. Tolmas Charitable Trust on Saturday, September 15th. The event honored those recovering from addiction – a treatable disease, not a moral failing – and remembers lives that have been lost.
Hundreds of members of the New Orleans community touched by addiction joined together for a “Second Line for a Second Chance” around Palmer Park, led by the Free Agents Brass Band. Thank you to Charly Borenstein Regueria for sharing her story of losing her son Halley Borenstein to an accidental heroin overdose in 2017 and to Bridge House Alum Michael Barlow for sharing his personal story of addiction and recovery.
“Addiction touches one in three people. That’s an extraordinary number,” said Bridge House / Grace House Board of Directors President, Susan Tyler. “We want to convey the message that there is hope. We are recognized for our innovation and community engagement, transforming addictive behaviors and realizing human potential to strengthen families and build a more vibrant and greater New Orleans.”
